?!

While riding the subway one day, I got the image in my head of some sort of octopus/ghost kind of combo, and this is what resulted. I don't know if you can see, but the cloud has a bit of a moustache...
This was made with Sharpie and crayon on tracing paper.

Dog Day Afternoon

I made these drawings of Pacino while watching "Dog Day Afternoon." The large face on the right is of him at the beginning of the film, on the left on the phone is in the middle of the film, and the small, sweaty face on the bottom is at the end.

Stop Already

People who clip their fingernails on the subway.
People who rap to themselves loudly on the subway.
People who honk their car horns for no reason.
People who stare for no reason.
This is how I feel about these people.

A Woman Under the Influence

Top part of the image was slightly cut off...but you get the idea. Inspired from the film "A Woman Under the Influence."

Fur mein vater...

Made for my papa's birthday. To make the card, I decided to use the most sentimental language of all: German! Also I took the image of the man's face from the film, "Peeping Tom." I'm hoping to win the award this year for "most disturbing birthday card."

I'm not sure how I could possibly lose...

Teorema

Both of these drawings were inspired by the Pasolini film, "Teorema."

This is from the part where the two parents are in bed together, but there's a weird, detached feeling to the scene...I wanted to see if I could mimic/exaggerate their postures and capture the mood of the scene.

I really liked the way this character's colors - the orange of his hair with the green of his turtleneck - so I tried to match it in this drawing.

P.S. you wouldn't know it from these drawings, but this film is seriously bizarre. Becky recommends!

Woody Allen

Inspired by the first 10 minutes of the Woody Allen film, "Husbands and Wives."

Hot, Hot, Hot!

I made this one on a particularly hot day! Made with sharpie and watercolor.

Happy 3 Days Late Father's Day

Made this for my Popsicola in honor of Father's Day...Gumby was drawn from life, Pokey was drawn from memory (obviously I can't remember what Pokey actually looked like).

Palm Flowers

Made this for me mum's birthday!

Cat Regret

A few weeks ago, I kitten-sat for my friends Zach and Chris. Their new kitten was a spitting image of my old cat, Conan, an orange male tabby. I spent all weekend with this kitten, which brought back a lot of happy - and sad - memories. The kitten helped me work out a lot of my issues. We bonded. Then I made a cartoon about it!

Dali!

oops...the bottom portion of this drawing was cut off by my crappy scanner! Well, you get the idea...I made this while watching a documentary on Dali.

Summer is Here

Although by the look of this drawing, you might think it's Autumn...I made this for my new old lady friend, Marlene, using Sharpie & crayon.

Look at Me, Mom!

My mom wrote a children's book, and asked me to illustrate it.

The kid hates baths.

Nobody puts Baby in the corner!

As you may have noticed, these are not in order. Also there are some pages missing. But you get the jist. I kind of modeled her after myself (in attitude, not in appearance, duh). These were made with Sharpie, Staedtler pigment liners, and watercolor.

Sunburn

Inspired by a lady on the train, whose green dress nicely complemented her newly burnt skin.

Calendar Page

This is "July" from a State Farm Calendar, which I drew on top of with Sharpie marker. I drew on every month, but I think this one turned out the best. Also, today it's as hot as July, so there you go! Bleh!

Quilt Lady

Ever seen the movie "The Business of Being Born?" Ever wanted to see what Ricki Lake might look like while giving birth? Well today's your lucky day, because that's exactly what you get in this lovely gem! It's a documentary about midwifery, which is not pronounced at all how I thought it was. I made this drawing while watching the film, to give to my friend Molly (who recommended the movie). It was inspired by a)Angel's bedspread, b)Gustave Klimt, and c)Marjane Satrapi. It was made with Sharpie marker, crayon, and graphite.

Here I am!

I will be periodically posting drawings that I've made and gave away to friends and family. Most will be made with just Sharpie and crayons. I just want somewhere to store pictures I've made and be able to show my friends and family who live far awaaaaaay! Enjoy.
